Regulatory Legal Counsel
IMC, a global trading firm founded in 1989, is seeking an experienced Regulatory Legal Counsel to join its legal team in Mumbai, India. The firm specializes in providing liquidity to financial markets through proprietary trading, utilizing advanced technology and quantitative research. This role is integral to ensuring IMC's compliance with Indian financial regulations, particularly those affecting proprietary trading, derivatives, and commodities.
The Regulatory Legal Counsel will be responsible for offering legal advice on Indian regulatory matters impacting proprietary trading, including SEBI Circulars, the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956, and related rules. The role involves monitoring and interpreting new regulatory developments to ensure the firm's compliance, advising on regulations pertaining to derivatives and commodities markets, and collaborating with compliance and risk management teams to identify and mitigate regulatory risks. Additionally, the counsel will assist in resolving regulatory and compliance issues arising from audits, investigations, or enforcement actions, and support other general in-house legal matters as needed.
Candidates should have 5 to 8 years of legal experience focusing on regulatory matters in the financial services industry, with exposure to proprietary trading, derivatives, and/or commodities. A Bachelor's (LL.B) or Master's (LL.M) degree in Financial or Corporate Law from a recognized law school is required. In-depth knowledge of Indian financial regulations is essential, and prior experience working at a proprietary trading firm, broker-dealer, or financial institution is preferred. Familiarity with automated or algorithmic trading strategies is advantageous. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, are crucial.
