Scientist, Flow Chemistry
Lila Sciences is seeking a Scientist to join our Physical Sciences team, focusing on the development of advanced flow chemistry workflows. This role involves designing, building, and optimizing flow chemistry platforms that incorporate real-time analytics, advanced control strategies, and AI-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with systems engineers and AI scientists to enhance autonomous chemistry capabilities and accelerate large-scale discovery efforts.
Key responsibilities include architecting and developing versatile flow chemistry platforms for autonomous synthesis, ensuring seamless integration with the Lila platform. The Scientist will build, control, and optimize flow reactors and inline analytics, interfacing these platforms with robotic and sensing systems. Additionally, the role involves tuning flow chemistry platform designs and software pipelines for high-throughput, closed-loop experimentation with comprehensive metadata capture. Collaborating with AI teams to run iterative experiments in real time is also a critical aspect of the position.
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. A minimum of one year of hands-on experience in flow chemistry, microfluidics, or microreaction engineering is required for Ph.D. holders, while M.S. holders should have at least four years of relevant experience. Experience with automation, instrumentation, and integrating real-time analytics into experimental workflows is essential. A strong background in homogeneous chemical catalysis and organic synthesis, proficiency in Python for scripting, data analysis, and instrument control, along with excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, are also necessary.
The expected base salary for this role ranges from $108,000 to $144,000 per year, accompanied by bonus potential and generous early equity. The final offer will reflect the candidate's unique background, expertise, and anticipated impact.
