Scientist I, Expression Platform, Mammalian Cells
The Scientist I, Expression Platform, Mammalian Cells role at Lila Sciences involves leading the development and validation of novel mammalian cell-based pooled assays. This position spans from proof of concept to automated screens, generating highly multiplexed and high-dimensional datasets. The scientist will collaborate across cell biology, protein design, and nucleic acid teams to support biologic development programs by rapidly determining the binding, stability, function, and immunogenicity of various biologics.
Key responsibilities include building next-generation mammalian display-based assays for binding, stability, function, and immunogenicity. The role also involves implementing state-of-the-art multiomic, single-cell, and in situ sequencing workflows to create novel, highly multiplexed assays. The scientist will partner with protein design, nucleic acid, protein, and automation teams to apply these workflows to biologic development. Additionally, the role requires close collaboration with engineering and automation teams to design and execute platforms for automated, high-throughput experimentation and data-rich workflows, as well as working with AI teams to run iterative experiments in real time for fast optimization and discovery cycles.
The position requires a Ph.D. in Chemical/Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Immunology, or a related field, or an M.S./B.S. with 5–8+ years of relevant industry experience. Candidates should have expertise in developing or applying mammalian display or similar pooled mammalian systems, designing, executing, and analyzing single-cell, in situ, or multiomic sequencing-based experiments, and experience with flow cytometry and sorting-based experiments. Experience in creating highly complex libraries of defined sequences in mammalian cells and designing, executing, and analyzing NGS-based experiments is also required.
