The Scientist I/II, Process Chemistry at Lila Sciences will develop and apply modern process chemistry approaches to support Discovery Chemistry efforts across the company's platform. This role focuses on reaction and reactor engineering, process design, high-throughput experimentation, and digitalized chemistry workflows for small molecules and related molecular matter. The position is intended for a hands-on scientist who combines strong foundations in synthetic and process chemistry with an engineering mindset and experience building practical, scalable, and data-rich experimental workflows.

Key responsibilities include designing, executing, and optimizing process-relevant chemical transformations that support Discovery Chemistry programs and the generation of small molecules. The scientist will develop reaction and process workflows emphasizing engineering rigor, scalability, reproducibility, throughput, and data quality. Additionally, the role involves applying high-throughput experimentation to reaction screening, process optimization, condition scouting, and evaluation of process-relevant variables. Collaborating with automation and platform teams to develop and adapt reaction and process workflows for robotics-enabled experimentation is also a critical aspect of the position.

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Process Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related discipline, with relevant postdoctoral and/or industry experience. Strong hands-on experience in process chemistry, reaction development, or scale-relevant synthetic chemistry is essential. The candidate should demonstrate experience applying engineering principles to chemical process design, optimization, and troubleshooting. Experience with high-throughput experimentation for reaction or process screening, optimization, and data-rich experimentation is also required. Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively across chemistry, analytics, automation, engineering, and computational teams are important for success in this role.

Lila Sciences offers competitive compensation, including bonus potential and generous early equity. The expected base salary range for this position is $108,000 to $170,000 USD. The final offer will reflect the candidate's unique background, expertise, and impact.
