SDK Software Engineer, AI
As an SDK Engineer on LaunchDarkly’s AI Configs team, you will develop the primary interface that customers use daily to control, monitor, and optimize their GenAI functionality. This role involves working primarily with Python and TypeScript, contributing to feature-rich SDKs that emphasize performance, concurrency, and resiliency, all while adhering to idiomatic practices for their respective tech stacks. LaunchDarkly is dedicated to managing the complete software development lifecycle for GenAI features, from configuration to benchmarking and observation.
In this position, you will contribute to the development of open-source AI SDKs by implementing new features and staying current with the latest development practices. Collaboration with engineering and product teams is essential to drive the implementation and release of major features. Additionally, you will focus on improving key developer experience touchpoints within the SDK, actively maintain open-source repositories, identify areas for improvement, and advocate for best practices. Your input will be valuable in shaping both technology and product decisions.
The ideal candidate has demonstrable experience building libraries and packages used by other developers, with over five years of experience in Python and TypeScript. Experience working with AI SDKs, such as those from OpenAI and Vercel, is highly desirable. Strong computer science fundamentals, a commitment to collaborative environments, and a proactive problem-solving attitude are essential. A solid background in testing, including unit, integration, load tests, and benchmarks, along with experience writing production-ready code emphasizing quality and maintainability, is required. Contributions to open-source software are also valued.
Compensation for this role varies based on geographic location. For Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC Metropolitan Area, Boston, Seattle), the salary range is $171,200 to $235,400. For Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago), the range is $154,100 to $211,860. For Zone 3 (all other US locations), the range is $145,500 to $200,090. Additional benefits include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health benefits.
