Security Engineer - Trust & Safety

Canva is seeking a Security Engineer to join its Trust & Safety team, dedicated to ensuring a secure and positive user experience across the platform. This role involves proactively investigating fraud and abuse risks, including account takeovers, content abuse, bot attacks, and subscription misuse. The successful candidate will collaborate with product teams to embed safety considerations into design decisions and implement scalable abuse mitigations.

Key responsibilities include monitoring signals and trends to identify emerging abuse patterns, developing detection alerts and anomaly signals, and supporting threat modeling for new features. The Security Engineer will also lead proactive abuse mitigation efforts by identifying new abuse vectors and driving improvements through post-incident learnings. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the enhancement of Trust & Safety tooling, detection systems, and operational processes to effectively prevent and mitigate fraud and abuse at scale.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in security engineering, abuse prevention, or fraud detection. Strong investigative skills, proficiency in analyzing logs to identify abuse patterns, and working knowledge of SQL and data analysis are essential. Familiarity with product telemetry, common abuse signals, and coding in Python or Java is required. The candidate should also be comfortable collaborating with Data Scientists and engaging with product teams to address abuse risks in new features.
