Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js / NestJS) – Greenfield Product

CarOnSale is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in Berlin or Munich. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and building the foundation of a new standalone product, collaborating closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to develop reliable and scalable backend systems.

Your primary responsibilities will include building and maintaining backend services using Node.js and NestJS, designing a clean system architecture, defining and implementing APIs and backend infrastructure, and establishing development standards and CI/CD pipelines. Additionally, you will mentor other engineers through code reviews and technical feedback, and continuously improve workflows using modern tooling and AI-assisted engineering.

The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of backend engineering experience, with strong proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS. Experience in designing scalable backend architectures, working with relational databases like PostgreSQL, and familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker are essential. Prior experience mentoring engineers and working in agile teams is also required.
