Senior Backend Software Engineer | Achievements & Gamification

Wellhub is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Achievements & Gamification team. This role focuses on enhancing user engagement by developing gamification features that transform real-time user data into rewarding experiences. As part of a remote team based in Brazil, you'll contribute to our mission of making every company a wellness company.

In this position, you'll lead the design and implementation of backend services that support gamification initiatives. Your responsibilities will include integrating AI agents to optimize engineering processes, participating in architectural decisions, and collaborating with product teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You'll also mentor junior developers and ensure the long-term technical health of our platform.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and at least five years of experience in backend development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Scala, Kotlin, or Java is required, along with experience in SQL/NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, or Redis. Familiarity with event-driven architectures, message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ), and cloud-based architectures in AWS is essential. Strong communication skills in English and Portuguese are also necessary.
