Senior BSA/AML Investigator
The Senior BSA/AML Investigator at xAI will be a key member of the Legal & Compliance Team, focusing on detecting, preventing, and reporting financial crimes. This role is integral to maintaining an effective BSA/AML and Sanctions compliance program within the Payments team. xAI, founded by Elon Musk in March 2023, is dedicated to creating AI systems that accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge. In this role, the Senior BSA/AML Investigator will independently investigate and resolve complex alerts and cases from transaction monitoring systems, analyzing payment flows and user behaviors. Responsibilities include preparing, reviewing, and recommending the filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), conducting Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on high-risk users and transactions, and assisting with Know Your Customer (KYC) and onboarding matters. The investigator will also collaborate with internal teams on compliance-related initiatives and new product launches, and mentor junior team members on investigation techniques and regulatory requirements.
Candidates should have over four years of hands-on experience in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), preferably within fintech or banking sectors. Familiarity with financial crime risks specific to digital payments, money transmission, wallets, or peer-to-peer platforms is highly desirable. Proven experience in preparing and filing SARs, along with in-depth knowledge of BSA/AML laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC sanctions, is essential. Strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities are required. AML-related certifications, such as CAMS or CGSS, are preferred but not mandatory.
The compensation package for this position includes a base salary ranging from $125,000 to $150,000 USD, complemented by equity, comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and various other discounts and perks.
