Okta, a leading identity and access management company, is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel – Cybersecurity to join their Cybersecurity & Privacy Legal team. This role involves leading a team of legal professionals and providing guidance on cybersecurity and privacy issues within a cloud-first, SaaS environment. The position is available in multiple locations, including Chicago, Illinois; New York, New York; and Washington, DC.

As Senior Corporate Counsel – Cybersecurity, you will lead a team of talented, high-performing cybersecurity legal professionals and serve as a point of escalation to provide cybersecurity legal expertise and guidance to executives, cross-functional leaders, and other stakeholders throughout the organization. You will advise, draft, and negotiate cybersecurity and privacy terms associated with outbound cloud service Master Subscription Agreements, Information Security Exhibits, Data Processing Addendums, and other documentation related to sales transactions, while partnering closely with Okta’s Commercial Legal team. Additionally, you will provide day-to-day legal support surrounding cybersecurity and privacy-related contract requests and respond promptly and effectively to legal requests from internal clients with pragmatic and business-oriented guidance.

The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience, including at least 2 years working primarily on cybersecurity and privacy-related transactional matters, preferably at a SaaS technology company. Familiarity with the culture of a fast-paced enterprise software company and knowledge of SaaS products are essential. Experience working with highly-regulated customers, especially those in the financial services industry, is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, drafting, and negotiation skills are required. A strong understanding of global security, privacy, and data protection frameworks, including NIST, ISO, FedRAMP, PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and HIPAA, is necessary. A self-motivated individual with grit who takes initiative and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves is ideal. A strong academic background and J.D. from a highly-regarded school, with active bar admission, are required.

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington is between $212,000 and $292,000 USD.
