Senior Counsel
Visa is seeking a seasoned Senior Counsel to join its Asia Pacific Legal team, focusing on the Australia, New Zealand, and South Pacific markets. This role involves providing comprehensive legal support across various domains, including sales contracts, corporate and commercial matters, technology, products, marketing, intellectual property, and regulatory engagement. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Managing Counsel and collaborate closely with business units to achieve strategic objectives while safeguarding Visa's brand and reputation.
Key responsibilities include drafting, negotiating, and finalizing complex commercial, technology, and strategic partnership agreements that align with business goals. The Senior Counsel will advise on deal structures, support the expansion of new and existing product and service offerings, and provide guidance on payments system modernization, AML/CTF reforms, and prudential standards. Additionally, the role involves assisting in regulatory and government engagements with entities such as APRA, RBA, ASIC, and AUSTRAC, including license and authorization applications.
The ideal candidate will possess solid technical legal skills with sound commercial and legal risk judgment. They should have experience in commercial business law and management, with the ability to draft to a high standard. Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential, along with the capacity to work proactively and independently. While prior payments experience is not required, a willingness to learn Visa's business model and the payments industry is necessary.
