Senior Data Engineer

The Senior Data Engineer at VGW will play a pivotal role within the Technology team, leading the design and delivery of high-impact data products. This position involves guiding engineering teams in building and maintaining robust data pipelines and systems that transform diverse datasets into valuable insights. VGW is an interactive entertainment company specializing in free-to-play online social games, with acclaimed brands such as Chumba Casino, Global Poker, and LuckyLand Slots.

Key responsibilities include leading engineering teams in the development of trusted data products, providing technical leadership through hands-on work and coaching, and developing and optimizing data pipelines that ingest, cleanse, transform, and structure various datasets. The role also involves driving design discussions, ensuring adherence to coding and operational standards, collaborating with product teams to define data product standards, and identifying opportunities to improve data flows and system performance.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, with proficiency in SQL and Python. Experience with Snowflake, relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Postgres, DynamoDB), and building ETL/ELT pipelines is essential. Proficiency in cloud-native DataOps practices, experience with AWS data services (such as EMR, RDS, Redshift, Kinesis, Glue), and knowledge of data modeling and warehousing are also required. Exposure to large-scale data processing and streaming technologies is advantageous.
