Senior Employment Counsel, EMEA
Canva is seeking an experienced employment lawyer to join its dynamic global legal team as a Senior Employment Counsel for the EMEA region. Based in London, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with the Lead Employment Counsel and provide regional support to Canva's growing workforce across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The Senior Employment Counsel will be responsible for advising on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, grievances, employee equity, executive compensation, benefits, contingent workforce matters, global mobility, mergers and acquisitions, and international expansion. The role involves preparing and negotiating employment-related agreements, leading complex projects, managing employee disputes and litigation, and developing internal resources and templates.
Candidates should be admitted to practice in England and Wales and possess at least 5 years of experience in employment law, gained within a respected law firm or in-house at a rapidly growing international technology company. A strong understanding of employment laws across the EMEA region, coupled with the ability to apply this knowledge pragmatically in a commercial environment, is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate good judgment, a collaborative and flexible approach to problem-solving, effective communication skills, and a proactive attitude with the ability to drive projects forward.
