Canva is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead its Developer Workflows team in Melbourne, Australia. This role involves overseeing three specialized teams focused on enhancing developer experiences across frontend, backend, and platform engineering. As part of Canva's Developer Experience group, the team is dedicated to optimizing the development journey for engineers across the company.

In this position, you will be responsible for coaching three Team Engineering Leads to foster a high-performing, inclusive, and psychologically safe engineering culture. You will define and drive the strategy for Developer Workflows, collaborating closely with Product Managers, engineering leaders, and platform teams to improve how engineers build, test, ship, and operate software at scale. Your role will also involve translating developer pain points into impactful improvements across CI/CD, IDE tooling, testing frameworks, developer environments, and platform workflows. Additionally, you will champion developer satisfaction as a key metric and drive initiatives that help engineers move faster with confidence.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading engineering teams or technical leaders in developer experience, platform engineering, infrastructure, or tooling environments. A high degree of empathy for engineers and a passion for creating workflows, tools, and environments that enable engineers to do their best work are essential. Experience with CI/CD systems, developer platforms, monorepo tooling, IDE ecosystems, or developer environment management is highly regarded. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to align teams, stakeholders, and priorities across complex technical environments are crucial.
