Senior Engineering Manager (BE) - Developer Workflows
Canva is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead its Developer Workflows team in Sydney, Australia. This role involves overseeing three specialized teams focused on frontend, backend, and platform engineering experiences. The position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility between remote work and in-person collaboration at Canva's Sydney campus.
In this role, you will lead three Developer Workflows teams, each dedicated to enhancing specific engineering domains. Your responsibilities include defining and executing strategies to improve developer experiences across frontend, backend, and platform engineering. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, engineering leaders, and platform teams to optimize software development processes, focusing on areas such as CI/CD, IDE tooling, testing frameworks, and developer environments. Additionally, you will champion developer satisfaction, support hiring and career development, and represent the Developer Workflows subgroup in leadership discussions.
Ideal candidates will have experience leading engineering teams or technical leaders in developer experience, platform engineering, infrastructure, or tooling environments. A strong empathy for engineers and a passion for creating efficient workflows and tools are essential. Proficiency in using metrics and data-informed decision-making to prioritize work and measure impact is required. Experience with CI/CD systems, developer platforms, monorepo tooling, IDE ecosystems, or developer environment management is highly regarded.
