Senior Finance Systems Engineer
As a Senior Finance Systems Engineer at Canva, you will be integral to the evolution of our global tax technology ecosystem. This role involves leading the architecture and implementation of platforms such as Avalara, Vertex, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, and Fonoa, ensuring seamless integration with Canva's broader finance systems. You will collaborate closely with teams across Tax, Accounting, Engineering, and Technical Program Managers to shape and execute Canva's long-term tax systems roadmap.
Your primary responsibilities will include designing and maintaining reliable, scalable integrations between Canva's tax platforms and critical business systems like NetSuite, Zuora, and Snowflake. You will drive automation and AI-enabled workflows to enhance compliance, reduce manual effort, and improve operational efficiency. Additionally, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining SOX/ITGC controls, supporting audit readiness, and ensuring robust governance across all tax systems and integrations.
To excel in this role, you should have over five years of experience managing enterprise tax systems within a global SaaS or high-growth technology environment. Proficiency in API integration across REST/SOAP services, hands-on experience with iPaaS tools like Workato, and strong SQL skills are essential. Experience with Python for ETL or automation workflows is highly regarded. A deep understanding of global indirect tax obligations, including VAT/GST, US sales tax, digital services taxes, and e-invoicing ecosystems such as PEPPOL, is crucial. Familiarity with SOX/ITGC controls, audit support, evidence management, and change governance practices across enterprise systems is also required.
