Senior Frontend Engineer - Design Systems Experience

Canva is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Design System Experience team, focusing on enhancing the usability and developer experience of Easel, Canva's design system. This role involves collaborating with engineers, designers, and product teams to refine solutions and advocate for engineering needs to non-technical stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include improving the design system through documentation, tooling, and enhancements; identifying and delivering opportunities to reduce friction for consumers; maintaining key systems or tools to ensure their operational health; and codifying and sharing knowledge through concise documentation and presentations.

The ideal candidate will have experience with TypeScript and React, deep knowledge of CSS architecture and web platform APIs, and a systems-level perspective that considers standards, practices, and migration strategies affecting the entire frontend specialty. A genuine interest in user experience and curiosity about how AI tooling is changing the development and consumption of design systems are also important.
