Senior Full-Stack Engineer, Email Systems
MZLA Technologies Corporation (MZLA), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation, is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join the Web Services Team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the accounts and email services that power a new suite of communication tools, including end-to-end encrypted file sharing, an email service, and an appointment booking service. MZLA operates independently within the Mozilla portfolio, focusing on open-source, privacy-respecting productivity tools.
In this role, you will build and prototype new features to address complex technical challenges, develop and maintain metrics to monitor email delivery rates and sender reputation, and diagnose service-level issues. You will also monitor email industry standards and emerging threats, proposing improvements to enhance delivery, reputation, and spam resilience. Additionally, you will develop, test, and evolve code architecture to ensure scalability and robustness, conduct code reviews, and contribute to technical strategy and architectural decisions.
The ideal candidate has over seven years of professional software development experience, including at least two years in a senior role. Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Python 3 is required, along with experience in building and maintaining email services and web applications. A strong understanding of the full software development life cycle, the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams, and excellent English communication skills are essential. Experience with deploying and managing web infrastructure on AWS or similar cloud providers is also necessary.
MZLA offers a competitive salary, with ranges depending on location: $125,000 - $144,000 USD for the US, $108,000 - $125,000 CAD for Canada, and £62,000 - £72,000 GBP for the UK.
