Senior/Lead Software Engineer, Network Systems
Arista Networks is seeking a Senior/Lead Software Engineer to join our Network Systems team. In this role, you will collaborate with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to design and develop innovative features that enhance the performance and efficiency of Arista's hardware. Your work will involve managing hardware components on switches and routers, including temperature sensors, fan controllers, power controllers, storage devices, FPGAs, NICs, and PCIe switches. You will also have the opportunity to influence hardware designs and bring new products to market.
Key responsibilities include interfacing with stakeholders to conceptualize new network systems features, architecting and managing their development, and writing software in C, C++, and Python. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining features, contributing to functional and design specifications, and building automated tests and test infrastructure. Additionally, you will work closely with hardware and manufacturing teams to introduce new hardware to the market and provide technical leadership across various projects and tools.
The ideal candidate will possess a BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 8 years of experience, an MS with 6 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 3 years of experience. Expertise in C or C++ and Python, along with knowledge of UNIX or Linux, is essential. Hands-on experience in designing and developing hardware device drivers and/or system management utilities is required. An understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems, as well as experience with low-level hardware components, is advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in small teams are also important.
Arista offers a competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $210,000, depending on factors such as skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity.
