The Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial Lawyer role at WPP is positioned within the company's in-house legal team, providing critical legal support to one of the world’s largest advertising and communications groups. Day-to-day, the Senior Legal Counsel will draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of commercial agreements, including client contracts, supplier agreements, and partnership arrangements. Collaboration with business leads, procurement teams, and external counsel is a central component, as is providing timely, practical legal guidance across multiple jurisdictions. The role also involves supporting the implementation of compliance initiatives and assisting in managing disputes when they arise.
The ideal candidate holds a qualified law degree and has significant post-qualification experience in commercial law, ideally acquired both in private practice and in-house environments. Deep knowledge of contract law, strong negotiating and drafting skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities independently are essential. Prior exposure to the media, advertising, or technology sectors is highly advantageous, as is experience working in a multinational corporate setting.
