Senior Machine Learning Engineer - AI Enablement (AU remote)

Canva's AI Platform Group is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their AI Enablement team. This team plays a pivotal role in facilitating AI innovation across the company by providing solution expertise to researchers and AI builders globally. The focus is on bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and reliable, production-ready features, ensuring that AI advancements translate into real user value.

In this role, the engineer will act as a solution expert across various machine learning domains, including evaluations, training, inference, data pipelines, labeling, and optimization. Responsibilities include collaborating directly with product teams to navigate technical challenges, providing expert guidance on platform capabilities, developing blueprints and patterns to accelerate implementations, and debugging complex issues to identify root causes and share learnings broadly.

The ideal candidate will possess strong Python expertise with experience in machine learning frameworks, proficiency in working with Kubernetes, and knowledge of building data pipelines and model evaluations. Experience with inference optimization and serving infrastructure, as well as supporting or working closely with research, data science, or product teams, is highly desirable. Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills across the full machine learning stack, the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, and strong communication skills are essential.
