Senior / Principal Research Engineer, LLM Synthetic Data
As a Senior or Principal Research Engineer specializing in Synthetic Data at Lila Sciences, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company's synthetic data initiatives. This position involves collaborating with the Research Engineering team to design, generate, and implement artificial datasets that enhance the training, testing, and overall performance of Lila's platform. In this role, you will be responsible for defining the synthetic data strategy and developing a multi-quarter roadmap. Your tasks will include creating evaluation frameworks that link synthetic data interventions to tangible model performance improvements. Additionally, you will establish standards for asset quality, diversity, documentation, and reproducibility, fostering a culture of rigorous review and continuous improvement within the team.
The ideal candidate will have over six years of experience in applied machine learning or machine learning systems, with at least three years leading industry initiatives. A proven track record in developing advanced algorithms and frameworks for large-scale synthetic data generation is essential. Proficiency in modern machine learning workflows, including Python, PyTorch, dataset tooling, training loops, and evaluation frameworks, is required. Experience in profiling and optimizing GPU-intensive pipelines is also necessary.
Lila Sciences offers a competitive compensation package, including bonus potential and generous early-stage equity. The expected base salary range for this position is between $224,000 and $336,000 USD.
