Senior Software Engineer, Box Apps
Box is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Box Apps team in Warsaw, Poland. In this role, you will develop new backend features focused on high scale and performance, collaborate with frontend teams on planning and API contracts, and solve challenges related to distributed systems at scale. Your responsibilities will also include measuring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, optimizing accordingly, building internal tools to support testing automation and deployment pipelines, and participating in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups and sprint planning. Additionally, you will contribute to code reviews to ensure quality standards are met consistently and participate in the on-call rotation to respond to and triage any issues that arise.
The ideal candidate has over 5 years of professional software development experience, is proficient in Java, and familiar with scripting languages like Python, Scala, or PHP. Experience working within Linux environments, cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes is essential. Strong communication skills, a passion for learning new technologies, and fluency in English are also required. Familiarity with GraphQL, frontend development, and NoSQL databases is a plus.
