Senior Software Engineer (Golang, Kubernetes) - Cloud Compute Team
As a Senior Software Engineer within the Cloud Compute team at Canva, you will be instrumental in extending and operating foundational Kubernetes infrastructure that underpins Canva's services. This role offers the flexibility to work from our flagship campus in Sydney, other Australian locations, or remotely across Australia and New Zealand, aligning with Canva's commitment to adaptable work environments.
Your primary responsibilities will include designing, building, and operating Kubernetes infrastructure across multiple cloud providers. You will develop and maintain automation for cluster lifecycle management, node provisioning, and provider onboarding. Additionally, you will create platform tooling and abstractions that enable other Canva engineers to deploy and scale workloads efficiently, without needing to understand the underlying infrastructure.
To excel in this role, you should possess strong knowledge in Computer Engineering or Science fundamentals, particularly relating to concurrency, multithreading, data structures, architecture, and various design patterns. Experience as a Senior Software Engineer building platform or infrastructure products in Golang is essential. You should have substantial experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production at scale, a deep understanding of Linux systems—including kernel, networking, performance troubleshooting, and OS image management—and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices and GitOps workflows.
Canva offers a range of benefits to support your success both professionally and personally. These include equity packages to share in the company's success, an inclusive parental leave policy supporting all parents and carers, an annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, and office setup, as well as flexible leave options that empower you to recharge and support your personal commitments.
Joining Canva means becoming part of a team that values collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to redefining how the world experiences design. With opportunities for growth and development, a supportive company culture, and the chance to work on impactful projects at scale, this role offers a compelling opportunity for experienced engineers looking to make a significant impact.
