Senior Software Engineer I - Receive Risk - Java

The Receive Risk team, part of the Acquiring Squad within the Global Product tribe, focuses on ensuring that customers can receive money quickly and securely by developing advanced fraud detection and prevention systems.

As a Senior Software Engineer I in the Receive Risk team, you will be responsible for building a fraud engine that supports the rapid deployment of new products and features while maintaining low risk and cost. Your role will involve close collaboration with Product, Data Science, Fraud Prevention Analysts, and Fraud agents to balance scalability with efficient risk mitigation. You will work on backend services supporting large-scale traffic, ensuring high performance, low latency, and reliability.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with distributed systems, including microservices architecture, and a strong background in backend programming languages, particularly Java. Proficiency in messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, along with a solid understanding of relational databases (SQL), is essential. A product-oriented mindset with end-to-end ownership of features and excellent communication and collaboration skills are also important. Experience with machine learning concepts and data pipelines, as well as mentorship experience, are considered advantageous.
