Our models handle over 600 million inference calls monthly and process more than 1 million hours of audio daily, powering a wide array of voice applications. In this position, you will design and develop customer-facing APIs that expose new model capabilities, overseeing them from prototype through launch and continuous iteration. Collaborating closely with our research team, you will transform proof-of-concept models into robust, production-ready APIs that meet the latency, reliability, and usability expectations of our customers. Additionally, you will engage with customers and applied teams to understand user needs, feeding insights back into product design and research directions.
The ideal candidate will have strong backend engineering experience, particularly in building and supporting customer-facing APIs in production environments. Comfort with ambiguity is essential, as research and product development timelines may not always align. A genuine curiosity about AI and machine learning is important; while deep research expertise isn't required, an understanding of model operations will inform sound engineering decisions. Strong collaboration skills are also crucial, as this role involves daily interactions with researchers, applied engineers, and customers, each with diverse contexts and priorities.
