Senior Software Engineer
Tanium is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their platform development team. This role involves building and maintaining high-quality services that power Tanium's products. Software engineers at Tanium are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying new product ideas, collaborating closely with product management and customers for continuous feedback and improvement.
In this position, you will work alongside a highly agile development team to design and develop robust, scalable, and maintainable software features and systems across the full software development lifecycle. You will architect technical solutions that meet complex product requirements while balancing performance, reliability, and security considerations. Collaboration with product management, UX, and peer engineers is essential to define requirements, estimate effort, and deliver high-quality solutions on schedule. Additionally, you will lead code reviews, provide constructive technical feedback, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 7 years of industry experience is required, with advanced knowledge of C++. Experience in designing and building high-performance, secure, scalable, observable, supportable, and maintainable backend services and APIs is essential. Proficiency with public cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure, cryptographic primitives, TLS, PKI, and HTTP API design and development is also necessary. Familiarity with modern software engineering development and automation tools like Git, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins is expected. Demonstrated experience integrating AI tools and technologies into software development, including AI-assisted coding and prompt engineering, is a plus.
This is a hybrid role requiring employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; or Emeryville, CA. The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $191,000 to $293,000, with the actual salary offered adjusted based on factors such as location, education, skills, training, and experience.
