Tulip is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead the Build team, which is responsible for the majority of Tulip's product surface area. This role involves directing engineering managers and technical leaders, collaborating across engineering and product teams to determine the roadmap, scope work, and ensure effective teamwork. The position is based in Somerville, MA, with a hybrid work environment requiring in-office presence three or more days per week.

Key responsibilities include leading and growing a high-performing team of software engineers, providing coaching and guidance on technical skills, and defining clear growth paths for each team member. The manager will contribute directly to the team's work as a "player-coach," oversee technical aspects of projects, including code quality and system architecture, and set clear expectations for productivity and efficiency. Additionally, the role involves owning team metrics, driving change based on data, and ensuring alignment with the company's vision and business objectives.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical acumen, people management skills, and a deep understanding of product business value. Required qualifications include 5-7+ years of SaaS software engineering experience with contemporary tech stacks such as React, Redux, NodeJS, Golang, Electron, MongoDB, and Postgres. Additionally, 2+ years in people management leading a software team, experience with cross-functional team leadership, and a strong understanding of testing and deploying systems in multicloud/multitenant environments are essential. Familiarity with integrating software components and third-party technologies, as well as experience architecting systems that integrate agentic and generative AI capabilities, are also required.
