Senior Threat Detection Engineer - Tooling and Automation (ANZ remote)
As a Senior Threat Detection Engineer at Canva, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the company's security posture by developing and implementing advanced detection capabilities and automating security workflows. This position is part of the Detection Engineering, Tooling & Automation (DETA) team within the Detection & Response organization, which focuses on proactive threat detection, incident response, and security platform operations to safeguard Canva's systems and data.
Your primary responsibilities will include leading end-to-end detection engineering initiatives, from threat research and design documentation to implementation and deployment. You will design and build Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) workflows to automate detection triage, investigation, and response activities, thereby improving mean-time-to-detect and respond. Additionally, you will architect and maintain security platform infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Ansible, ensuring reliability and scalability.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in detection engineering, threat hunting, or security operations, with a proven track record in designing and implementing detection logic for enterprise security platforms such as SIEM, EDR, and SOAR. Proficiency in programming languages like Python or Go for automation development is essential, along with hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure. Familiarity with containerization technologies and DevOps practices is also highly desirable.
