SMS Lead
May Mobility is seeking an SMS Lead to oversee and operate the company's Safety Management System (SMS). This role is integral to ensuring that safety objectives are established, performance is monitored, incidents are managed effectively, and a robust safety culture is maintained throughout the organization. The SMS Lead will work closely with various teams to integrate safety practices into all aspects of May Mobility's autonomous transportation services.
Key responsibilities include owning the lifecycle of the SMS, aligning it with ICAO Doc 9859's four-pillar framework, and mapping regulatory obligations from UN ECE R157 and UL 4600 into the SMS documentation. The SMS Lead will establish and maintain the Safety Performance Monitoring & Measurement program, define safety performance indicators and targets, and produce executive-level safety reports. Additionally, the role involves coordinating incident reporting and investigations, planning internal SMS audits, and promoting a non-punitive safety culture across the company.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management systems, preferably within the transportation or autonomous vehicle industry. Experience with regulatory frameworks such as ICAO Doc 9859, UN ECE R157, and UL 4600 is essential. Excellent organizational and communication skills are required to effectively manage SMS documentation, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and lead safety training programs.
