Software Engineer (Backend), SaaS Platform
Censys is seeking a Software Engineer II (Backend) to contribute to the development of our next-generation SaaS platform. In this role, you will design and implement scalable microservices and robust APIs that power our core product offerings. This position is remote and open to candidates located in the United States or Canada.
As a backend engineer at Censys, you will be responsible for building and enhancing services that drive the functionality of our platform. Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers, you will deliver features that address real customer needs. Your work will involve integrating with internal and external APIs to support data-driven experiences, automating build and deployment workflows, and contributing to an iterative development process focused on continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will have experience writing backend services in Go (Golang) and a foundational understanding of distributed systems. A general knowledge of database design and access patterns is essential, along with hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP. Strong collaboration, communication, and analytical troubleshooting skills are crucial, as is a track record of delivering well-defined, high-quality work.
For candidates in high-cost-of-living areas like the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City, and Seattle, the expected salary range is $143,000 to $177,000 USD, plus bonus eligibility and equity. For all other U.S. locations, the range is $125,000 to $165,000 USD, with similar benefits.
