Lila Sciences is seeking a Software Engineer I to develop the next generation of Lab Instrument Integration Software, a foundational component of our AI-enabled laboratory. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of software, science, and hardware, contributing to solutions that accelerate scientific discovery.

Key responsibilities include developing robust software to enable communication between robotics and automation hardware, ensuring reliable and efficient hardware integration. The role also involves seamlessly integrating lab instruments into our AI-enabled lab automation infrastructure, managing complex interfaces between cloud and edge infrastructure, and device execution. Additionally, the engineer will perform rigorous testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of drivers to identify and rectify performance issues, as well as create and maintain comprehensive documentation for driver interfaces, APIs, and integration methods.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in Python, C#/.NET, or other relevant programming languages or frameworks. A demonstrated ability in debugging and problem-solving, particularly with hardware-software integration issues, is essential. Strong analytical thinking and a structured approach to troubleshooting complex technical problems are required, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

We offer competitive compensation, including bonus potential and generous early equity. The expected base salary range is $108,000 to $140,000 USD. Full-time U.S. employees receive a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental, and vision coverage; employer-paid life and disability insurance; flexible time off with generous company-wide holidays; paid parental leave; an educational assistance program; commuter benefits, including bike share memberships for office-based employees; and a company-subsidized lunch program.
