Software Engineer II / Senior Engineer, Life Sciences Data Science
Lila Sciences is seeking a Software Engineer II or Senior Engineer to join our Life Sciences Data Science team in Cambridge, MA. In this role, you will collaborate with software engineers, lab scientists, and machine learning engineers to develop advanced tools for automated scientific analysis. This position emphasizes Python development for scientific applications and involves working on web services and data engineering projects.
Key responsibilities include participating in the full software development life cycle, designing and maintaining software services, and developing reusable code to enhance efficiency and scalability. You will manage git repositories, oversee team project boards, promote best practices, assist lab scientists with new tools, and foster a collaborative development culture. Additionally, you will work directly with scientists to identify unmet needs and develop tailored software solutions for data management and automation.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of commercial software development experience, with high-level proficiency in Python and a strong understanding of git best practices. Excellent problem-solving skills, a team-first mentality, and strong communication abilities are essential. A background in biological sciences and familiarity with data science and machine learning libraries are advantageous.
We offer competitive base compensation ranging from $120,000 to $192,000 USD, with bonus potential and generous early-stage equity.
