Software L1 Test Engineer
Arista Networks is seeking a Software L1 Test Engineer to join our dynamic team responsible for validating our cutting-edge networking products and solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with software development engineers, hardware engineers, field support engineers, and fellow test engineers to ensure our products meet and exceed customer expectations. As a Software L1 Test Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include creating and executing comprehensive test plans that encompass scale, stress, interoperability, and customer scenario testing to validate features and products in optical, data communication, and power over Ethernet domains. You will work with customer support and software development teams to understand and reproduce customer-reported defects, validate fixes, and ensure product reliability. Additionally, you will install and configure test tools such as Teledyne, Sifos, Reach, and Ixia to emulate devices in the test environment, log and track failures in the bug tracking system, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues. Reviewing functional specifications, providing feedback, managing test schedules, developing scripts and tools to facilitate testing, and mentoring less experienced test engineers are also key aspects of this role.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with at least one year of experience, or a Master’s degree. Strong knowledge in two or more of the following areas is essential: power over Ethernet, analog signals, optical communication, fiber optics, and Ethernet network switches. Experience in developing test methodologies, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, or supporting Ethernet network switches is required. Proficiency with network traffic generation or packet capture/analysis tools such as Ixia, Spirent, Wireshark, or tcpdump, as well as experience with signaling or load emulator tools like Teledyne, Sifos, or Reach, is highly desirable. Familiarity with Linux, network management, or scripting, along with strong communication and teamwork skills, will contribute to success in this role.
Arista offers a competitive base salary ranging from $110,000 to $185,000, depending on factors such as skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity.
