Sr Business Intelligence Engineer
NetDocuments is seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to take ownership of our Snowflake data platform and evolve it into a scalable, well-governed foundation for analytics and AI. This hands-on engineering role involves shaping data architecture, enforcing standards, and building a reliable data layer that supports both business intelligence and AI-driven use cases. Reporting directly to the Director of BI, the successful candidate will have significant autonomy in guiding the platform's development.
Key responsibilities include designing and evolving the Snowflake data platform end-to-end, refactoring and enhancing pipelines, dbt models, and transformations to meet high standards for scalability, performance, and maintainability. The role also involves implementing and enforcing medallion architecture with clear separation of concerns, designing and building dimensional models that are intuitive and durable, and integrating data from various source systems into a coherent warehouse layer. Additionally, the engineer will design data models optimized for AI consumption, implement semantic views in Snowflake, and establish a Git-driven development lifecycle with robust data quality testing and validation.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of hands-on data engineering experience, with significant time spent owning architecture and driving development. Strong experience with Snowflake as a primary warehouse, advanced SQL skills, and experience building production-grade ELT pipelines are essential. Proficiency with dbt for modeling, testing, and transformation, experience integrating data from diverse source systems, and a deep understanding of star schemas and dimensional modeling are also required. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to use AI tools to increase output and velocity, possess strong judgment to validate AI-generated work, and have an interest in applying AI to improve data engineering workflows.
