Sr. Counsel, Director of Center for Life
The Senior Counsel, Director of the Center for Life at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is a pivotal role within the Legal Advocacy Team, based in Lansdowne, Virginia. This position reports directly to the Vice President of U.S. Litigation and is responsible for leading the Center for Life litigation team. The role involves setting strategic objectives, managing and mentoring team members, and overseeing litigation and advocacy efforts to advance ADF's mission of protecting religious freedom, free speech, the sanctity of life, marriage and family, and parental rights.
Key responsibilities include strategically assessing, developing, initiating, and leading legal advocacy that aligns with the objectives of the Center for Life. The director will lead and supervise a team of attorneys handling advanced and complex litigation, ensuring high-quality legal filings, conducting advanced legal research, and training attorneys in all phases of state and federal litigation. Additional duties encompass litigating complex cases, representing clients before trial and appellate courts, investigating potential cases, facilitating coalition building with pro-life groups nationwide, and engaging in public speaking and media appearances on pro-life issues.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree and a Juris Doctor (JD) with licensure to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction. A minimum of 10 years of experience in practicing law, including supervisory roles, is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Westlaw software is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ADF's mission and values, with a strong background in litigation and team leadership.
The compensation for this role ranges from $238,300 to $275,000 annually, reflecting the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
