Staff Data Scientist, Pricing
GoFundMe is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead the development and implementation of pricing strategies aimed at optimizing donation conversions and amounts. This role is integral to the company's mission of facilitating community-driven fundraising by enhancing donor experiences through data-driven insights.
The Staff Data Scientist will be responsible for defining analytical strategies, developing modeling frameworks, and establishing success metrics for pricing recommendations across various product platforms. Key duties include applying economic theories and machine learning techniques to understand donor behaviors, designing adaptive systems that learn from experimentation, and incorporating external data to anticipate donor actions. Collaboration with Product and Engineering teams is essential to ensure the deployment of interpretable and scalable models.
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Economics, Applied Economics, or a related quantitative field, or have at least eight years of industry experience in data science, applied economics, pricing, or monetization within a high-tech digital environment. A strong foundation in econometrics, causal inference, and behavioral modeling is required, along with proficiency in Python and SQL for complex analytical tasks. Experience with reinforcement learning and adaptive optimization concepts is also desirable.
The annual salary range for this full-time position is $179,500 to $269,500, with additional compensation including equity and comprehensive benefits such as healthcare, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) savings program. Geolocation differentials may adjust pay based on work location, and factors like skills, experience, education, or training will influence the final compensation package.
