Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, Physical Sciences (Level Flexible)
Lila Sciences is seeking exceptionally talented Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on deploying AI-driven engineering solutions within the realms of chemistry and materials science, particularly in industrial manufacturing settings. As an FDE, you will collaborate closely with both internal biotech and materials science teams, as well as external clients, to develop and implement solutions that significantly enhance research capabilities.
In this position, your primary responsibilities will include developing and adapting domain-specific tools for data analysis, process optimization, and molecular modeling. You will deploy customized scientific workflows that integrate seamlessly with industrial instruments and data systems, build real-time data pipelines to transform complex scientific data into actionable insights, and create intuitive interfaces to make advanced AI and machine learning capabilities accessible to scientists. Additionally, you will architect solutions that scale from proof-of-concept to enterprise-wide deployment.
The ideal candidate will possess domain expertise in chemistry, materials science, or a related field, along with outstanding communication skills to effectively interface with both executives and manufacturing personnel. Experience with data engineering, ETL pipelines, and managing complex datasets is essential. Strong full-stack development skills, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a comfort with ambiguous requirements are also required. A willingness to travel to customer sites for frequent and extended deployments is necessary.
Lila Sciences offers a competitive base salary ranging from $192,000 to $256,000 USD, along with bonus potential and generous early-stage equity.
