Staff Product Designer - future opportunities
Shakepay is seeking a Staff Product Designer to join their team in Canada. This role is designed for a product designer who is also proficient in coding, bridging the gap between design, product, and engineering teams. The company is on a mission to revolutionize financial services in Canada by making Bitcoin accessible and secure for all Canadians.
In this position, you will take full ownership of product features, from understanding the problem to designing the experience and writing the front-end code to deliver it to users. You will prototype in code to validate ideas quickly, collaborate closely with backend and core engineering teams to drive design-led development, and ensure the delivery of polished, production-ready experiences on tight timelines. Additionally, you will evolve the design system and component libraries to maintain consistency across mobile and web platforms.
The ideal candidate will have experience shipping real products where they owned both the design and code implementation, with proficiency in technologies such as React, Typescript, Node, or Vue.js. A strong portfolio demonstrating live products, a keen eye for intuitive and delightful user experiences, and a deep understanding of modern front-end development are essential. Excellent communication skills to articulate design decisions and technical trade-offs across teams are also required.
