Staff Technical Program Manager
Cellanome, a well-funded startup dedicated to addressing significant challenges in biology, is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the end-to-end delivery of core development teams. This role involves overseeing hardware, software, assay, and systems integration workstreams, translating complex technical roadmaps into executable Scrum delivery plans, and enhancing program transparency and risk management through AI-powered tools. The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Product Development and is based onsite in San Diego, California.
The TPM will be responsible for maintaining schedule integrity, driving cross-functional accountability, and ensuring commitments are met across various functions and workstreams. Key duties include executing Cellanome's formal Product Development Process (PDP), facilitating alignment sessions across multiple teams, defining and enforcing project standards, and building live program dashboards to provide real-time visibility into schedules, risks, and quality metrics. Additionally, the role involves coordinating across PDP phases, collaborating with Systems Integration to define test plans, and partnering with Manufacturing and Consumables teams to align design-for-manufacturability requirements.
Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of related experience in life sciences, medtech, or analytical instrumentation with a bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience. Strong working knowledge of Scrum and Agile delivery, expert-level proficiency in Jira and Confluence, and hands-on experience with formal PDP or stage-gate frameworks within hardware-centric product development organizations are essential. A proven track record of managing cross-functional analytical instrument or device development programs from concept through verification and validation is required. Active use of AI tools to automate program management and Scrum workflows, along with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, are also necessary.
Cellanome offers a competitive total compensation package, including a base salary range of $150,000 to $180,000 per year, generous stock options, comprehensive individual and family health plans, and a 401(k) plan. The company emphasizes flexibility to balance work and life, providing a supportive environment for professional growth.
Joining Cellanome means becoming part of a dynamic team passionate about developing next-generation technologies to unravel the complexities of biology. The company fosters a collaborative and innovative culture, offering opportunities for career advancement and the chance to work alongside capable, humble, and down-to-earth colleagues.
