Supervisor, Practice Assistant
McGuireWoods LLP is seeking a Practice Assistant Supervisor for its Charlotte, North Carolina office. This role is pivotal in ensuring that Practice Assistants, Practice Administrative Assistants, and other administrative staff deliver exceptional support to the firm's attorneys and clients. The supervisor will act as an advocate for staff success, proactively identifying and implementing solutions to enhance service and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong client-service mindset, demonstrated problem-solving abilities, professionalism, confidentiality, and resourcefulness in a fast-paced law firm environment.
Key responsibilities include supervising staff by interviewing, selecting, and training employees; setting and adjusting pay and work hours; preparing and conducting performance appraisals; coaching and counseling; and assigning and managing workflows. The supervisor will also review and verify electronic time and attendance records for staff, coordinate and conduct new administrative and departmental training, and assist proactively with overflow work for practice assistants. Additionally, the role involves supporting office operations by assisting with meetings, events, office programs, and other administrative or operational needs.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of three years of law firm experience and experience supervising multiple employees. Knowledge of legal terminology and processes is essential, and experience supporting attorneys in litigation and/or transactional practices is preferred. The candidate should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, possess strong interpersonal skills, and have a commitment to delivering an excellent client experience. Proficiency in innovative technology platforms is also desirable.
