The USA Payroll Compliance Expert at Remote will serve as the primary authority on U.S. payroll compliance, encompassing federal, state, and local wage and tax regulations. This role is integral to the Payroll Risk & Compliance team, focusing on enhancing compliance practices, supporting automation initiatives, leading audits, and guiding the payroll team through complex regulatory landscapes. Ideal candidates will possess extensive U.S. payroll and tax expertise, with a passion for operational problem-solving and system improvement.

Key responsibilities include acting as Remote’s subject matter expert for U.S. payroll compliance, leading internal payroll compliance audits, supporting the design and implementation of automated payroll processes and system controls, partnering with various departments to ensure compliance, guiding the U.S. payroll team through complex compliance matters, monitoring and interpreting changes in U.S. payroll legislation, developing and delivering training and documentation to build compliance awareness, and participating in global projects to strengthen Remote’s overall payroll compliance framework.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge of U.S. payroll compliance, including federal and multi-state taxation, wage and hour laws, tax and benefits reporting, proven experience managing U.S. payroll operations or compliance programs in complex or multi-entity environments, experience working with PEO & EOR models, strong understanding and experience of audit processes, system controls, and regulatory reporting, proven ability to translate legislation into practical, compliant processes, experience leading or supporting automation and process improvement initiatives, strong communication and documentation skills, and the ability to work independently and collaborate with distributed, global teams.

The annual salary range for this full-time position is $52,000 - $146,250 USD.
