Vehicle Safety Operator
Wayve, a leading developer of Embodied AI technology for autonomous vehicles, is seeking a Vehicle Safety Operator to join their Fleet Operations team in Leonberg, Germany. Founded in 2017, Wayve focuses on creating intelligent, mapless, and hardware-agnostic AI products designed to accelerate the transition from assisted to automated driving.
As a Vehicle Safety Operator, you will be responsible for conducting on-road experiments and providing real-world feedback to Wayve's research and development teams. Your key duties will include testing vehicles across Germany, monitoring the AI system to ensure safe operation, evaluating AI performance during tests, and offering expert feedback to research teams and engineers. Additionally, you will provide real-world driving examples to train the AI before public road testing and support safety and engineering teams by maintaining high safety standards and reporting any issues.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a full, clean German driving license with at least five years of driving experience, primarily in Germany, and no blameworthy insurance claims in the past three years. Strong communication skills, adaptability, and proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent software are essential. Basic navigation skills, familiarity with touchscreen gestures, and the ability to troubleshoot basic issues are also required. Fluency in both English and German is mandatory. Desirable qualifications include prior experience in vehicle testing, knowledge of autonomous vehicle technology, customer-facing or hospitality experience, and T1 and T2 Bertha certification.
This position offers a one-year fixed-term contract with a 40-hour workweek, including weekends. Shifts are scheduled from 06:30 to 15:00 and 14:30 to 23:00, with a rota issued four weeks in advance. The role is based onsite at Wayve's office in Leonberg, Germany, and may require national and international travel.
