Wise Platform - Compliance Lead
The Wise Platform Compliance Lead is a strategic role within Wise, a global technology company dedicated to revolutionizing the movement and management of money worldwide. This position is based in Brussels and focuses on overseeing the financial crime compliance framework for the European Wise Platform. The role involves integrating Wise's services with global banks and enterprises, ensuring that expansion efforts are balanced with a robust risk management approach.
Key responsibilities include leading the development and scalability of the compliance framework, setting standards for partner onboarding and monitoring, and ensuring alignment with Belgian and European regulatory obligations. The Compliance Lead will provide expert guidance to product and operations teams, defend Wise's risk appetite during engagements with partners and regulators, and proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks across platform products. Additionally, the role involves developing risk monitoring frameworks and communicating insights to the Wise Europe Board and external stakeholders.
Candidates should have over seven years of experience in financial crime compliance, particularly in correspondent banking, Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), or complex platform products. A deep understanding of Belgian and European Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulations is essential. Strong strategic leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a coaching mindset for mentoring team members are also required. A bachelor's degree in law, finance, or a related field is necessary, with additional certifications such as ACAMS or ICA being beneficial.
The compensation for this role ranges from €11,110 to €14,010 per month. Wise offers a hybrid working model, with three days in the office and two days working from home. The standard working hours are from 9 am to 6 pm.
