The 2026 Voyager Summer Internship in Lunar Research offers a unique opportunity to engage in applied research focused on utilizing lunar regolith as a primary construction material. Key responsibilities include investigating the composition and processing methodologies of lunar regolith, with an emphasis on 3D printing technologies and the development of stable foundations for inflatable habitat structures. Interns will work alongside senior engineers and research scientists, contributing ideas for process improvement and operational efficiency in the context of lunar construction.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Aerospace Engineering, Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Demonstrated coursework or research experience in materials characterization, structural engineering, additive manufacturing, or planetary science is required. Strong technical writing, research synthesis skills, and effective communication are essential.
The internship offers an hourly pay range of $23.50 to $30.00, determined by academic year, college major, line of business, and geography. Interns will have exposure to mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities throughout the 10-week program.
