Systems Engineer II – Test
The Test Engineer Level II supports propulsion system testing and basic systems engineering tasks within the Aerospace and Defense industry. This role collaborates with senior engineers to assist with test planning, control system support, test software development, instrumentation integration, and analysis. The engineer performs tasks under guidance, contributing to research, development, and risk-reduction testing while gaining experience across multiple technical domains.
Key responsibilities include assisting in developing and executing test plans and procedures for propulsion systems, supporting control system, avionics, and software engineering tasks for rocket motor testing, and helping define instrumentation and test facility requirements. The role also involves assisting with integrating avionics subsystems and test equipment, supporting calibration and validation of test instrumentation, and participating in Software-in-the-Loop (SWIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing. Additionally, the engineer will help generate and troubleshoot real-time test software using MATLAB/Simulink, contribute to pre-test performance predictions and post-test analysis, and prepare test status updates and assist in review materials.
Required qualifications include 2 to 4 years of experience in systems engineering and/or test engineering for aerospace, defense, or propulsion system development. Candidates should have exposure to software and hardware integration activities, including troubleshooting and basic analysis, and familiarity with technical documentation, test reports, or review support (e.g., TRRs, PDRs, CDRs). A bachelor's or master's degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited college/university is required. Additionally, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
