The Associate will be a key member of Focus Financial Partners' business development team, specializing in mergers and acquisitions (M&A). This role involves sourcing and cultivating relationships with independent wealth management firms nationwide, leveraging strong communication and analytical skills to evaluate potential transaction partners. The Associate will also contribute to the firm's M&A strategy through various business development initiatives. This position is based in New York, NY, or Austin, TX, with a requirement of three days per week on-site.

Key responsibilities include executing Focus's M&A strategy by identifying and engaging with principals of wealth and business management firms. The Associate will lead discussions that highlight Focus's value proposition to prospective acquisition partners, develop data-driven investment theses aligned with company objectives, and stay informed about industry trends through continuous evaluation of third-party research. Additional duties involve analyzing financial data from prospects to assess strategic fit, preparing and presenting term sheets, organizing meetings for senior team members with potential partners, and managing CRM and pipeline activities.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from a top university or college and have at least two years of full-time experience in business development, wealth management, or a related industry. Essential skills include excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, strong organizational and prioritization capabilities, proficiency in Microsoft products, and a proactive, intellectually curious approach. Competency in financial statement analysis, M&A processes, and strong analytical skills are advantageous.

The annual base salary for this exempt position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000, with actual compensation dependent on factors such as experience, expertise, geographic location, and skill set. The total compensation package may also include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, encompassing medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
