Associate Director/Director, A&R Research - JIVE Records
The Associate Director/Director of A&R Research at JIVE Records is responsible for identifying and evaluating new recording artists and songs using both analytical tools and traditional A&R methods. This role reports directly to the Co-Presidents of JIVE Records and is based in New York City.
Key responsibilities include organizing and assessing new artist submissions, actively searching blogs, social media, and charts for potential talent, and attending local shows and industry showcases to report findings. The role also involves negotiating distribution deals, researching and evaluating music performance across various platforms, monitoring social media and charts for music premieres, and generating weekly reports on artists of interest. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with the Sony analytics team to develop identification tools, creating artist-specific reports, and tracking global independent artists and labels for potential partnerships.
Candidates should have 4-8 years of experience in A&R Research, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask across multiple projects. Extensive knowledge of digital service providers (DSPs), social media platforms, and tools like Music Connect, Mediabase, and Shazam is essential. An in-depth understanding of the independent music landscape and prior experience in a data-driven A&R role are also required. Proficiency in aggregating and analyzing large datasets to derive actionable insights is crucial.
The anticipated annual base salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $120,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
