Associate - Technology & Data Protection
Foot Anstey LLP is seeking an Associate to join its Commercial, Technology & Data Protection team, offering a hybrid working arrangement from either Bristol or Exeter. This role presents an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a highly successful team on innovative, complex, and high-profile matters. In this position, you will advise a diverse range of high-quality national and regional clients, including household names and successful international businesses. Your responsibilities will encompass assisting technology suppliers and scale-up businesses with the launch of their products and services, particularly in AI and SaaS, and negotiating complex technology contracts. You will also support clients in key sectors such as Retail & Consumer, Islamic Finance, and Energy & Infrastructure on technology projects and procurement, including outsourcing, cloud services, and software licensing. Additionally, you will work on complex data protection and cybersecurity projects, including compliance audits, data protection impact assessments, and international data transfers. Participation in delivering the firm's award-winning data breach preparedness product, BreachReddi, is also expected.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a Commercial, Technology, and Data Solicitor, ideally with 2+ years of post-qualification experience, and a genuine passion for this area of law. A positive and pragmatic approach to finding solutions that meet clients' business needs is essential. Strong communication skills, the ability to build lasting client relationships, and resilience under pressure are also important. A commitment to engaging in business development opportunities to enhance both personal and firm profiles is highly valued.
