Catawiki is seeking a high-performing Business Developer to accelerate the growth of its Art category in Italy. This role involves actively acquiring, negotiating with, and expanding the network of art sellers across the country. The successful candidate will lead commercial discussions with galleries, dealers, and artists, structure high-value partnerships, and take full ownership of new business initiatives within the Italian art market.

Key responsibilities include identifying, mapping, and prioritizing high-potential galleries, dealers, and artists throughout Italy. The Business Developer will proactively build and manage an outbound pipeline through cold calling, email sequencing, direct outreach, and seller meetings. Converting both inbound and outbound opportunities into long-term, high-quality partnerships is essential. Utilizing data, AI tools, and performance insights to prioritize prospects and optimize conversion rates is also a critical aspect of the role. Additionally, the position requires ownership of forecasting and revenue reporting for the market, close collaboration with Art Experts on lot strategy and seller performance improvement, and structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including single-seller auctions and incentive models.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong hunter mindset with a proven track record in acquiring new strategic accounts and building pipelines from scratch. A minimum of 5 years of experience in Sales or Business Development with clear revenue targets and KPI ownership is required. Native Italian fluency, proficiency in English, and fluency in at least one additional European language are necessary. Experience in digital marketplaces or fast-scaling environments is preferred. The candidate should demonstrate experience in growing GMV/revenue and managing structured onboarding processes, have a strong analytical mindset, be a confident negotiator comfortable closing complex deals with senior stakeholders, and be highly autonomous, organized, and results-driven. Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot), data tools (e.g., Looker Studio), Google Workspace, and AI tools is advantageous. The role requires being based in a major Italian city with a willingness to travel across the country.
